What is the white stuff on my retaining wall?
It's efflorescence: salt deposits left behind when moisture moves through the masonry and evaporates. It's common in Brisbane's climate. We dissolve and remove it safely with specialised acidic treatments.
Is soft washing safe for old bricks?
Yes. It's the safest way to clean older brickwork. High pressure can damage soft, porous old bricks and wear out the mortar, while a soft wash cleans them without that damage.
How do you prevent moss from coming back?
We offer an optional biocide treatment that leaves an invisible barrier on the surface and slows moss and algae regrowth a lot. Combined with better drainage, it can keep your walls cleaner for 2 to 3 years.
Can you clean painted brick walls?
Yes. We change our technique and cleaning solutions for painted surfaces, so the dirt comes off and the paint finish is left alone.
How long will my retaining wall stay clean?
In Brisbane's climate, expect 12 to 24 months, depending on shade, moisture and the plants nearby. A protective treatment can make it last a good deal longer.
Do you repair damaged mortar?
We clean rather than repair. If we spot damaged mortar during the assessment, we can recommend a local mason we trust for repointing.
