Concrete tile roofs are on a lot of homes across Brisbane's northside and Moreton Bay. The textured surface holds moisture, and that's where lichen, moss and black algae streaks take hold, especially on the shaded sections.
High pressure can crack concrete tiles and strip their coating, so we soft wash. The cleaning solution does the work and the rinse stays at low pressure, which leaves the tiles intact.
Once the growth is off and the gutters are cleared, you can leave the roof as it is or have a restoration company coat it.

Is pressure washing safe for my roof?
High-pressure washing can damage roofs, so we soft wash instead. We use lower pressure and specialised cleaning solutions to remove the growth without damaging tiles or coatings.
Is soft washing safe for terracotta and concrete tiles?
Yes. Nothing is blasted at the tiles, so a soft wash won't chip, crack or wear away their surface. It's the method we use on tile and terracotta roofs.
How does moss damage my roof?
Moss and lichen hold moisture against the roof, which wears it down faster. They can lift tile edges and block water flow, and over time their roots can get into tiles and crack them.
How often should I have my roof cleaned?
Every 2 to 3 years is typical for Brisbane homes. Roofs under heavy tree cover, or with shaded, south-facing sections, may need it more often.
Do you offer roof painting or restoration?
Cleaning is our focus. Clean roofs take paint much better, though, so we often work alongside roof restoration companies, who do the painting after we have cleaned.
